TMJ Splints
If you suffer from TMJ pain or discomfort, your dentist may recommend that you wear a TMJ splint. Physically, TMJ splints look a lot like orthodontic oral aligners, but a TMJ splint has key features that set it apart. A TMJ splint will cover either all of the teeth or several, depending upon your need.
They cannot be bought in any store, since they’re custom made. TMJ splints serve the purpose of relieving tension in the jaw, often caused by nighttime grinding of the teeth. They aren’t intended to be worn forever, but instead provide temporary relief from jaw pain, headaches and the clicking sounds often associated with TMJ.
